Know Before You Go: Four Seasons Resort Marrakech

Morocco had long been a dream destination for our family. With a week-long school break ahead of us, we eagerly decided to venture to the captivating city of Marrakech, and it truly did not disappoint in any way. We were charmed by the vibrant culture, the perfect weather, the warm and welcoming hospitality of the locals, and the fragrant, colorful gardens throughout the resort and across Marrakech. The Four Seasons Resort Marrakech was an idyllic base for exploring this magical city, along with the nearby Atlas Mountains and Agafay Desert, and is well-suited to families with children of all ages. The sprawling suites provided ample space for our family of four, and the kids loved the massive Kids Kasbah, family pool, and exploring the 40-acre resort compound. The excellent weather, excursions, and service made this one of the most memorable vacations we have ever had — we left here eager to return.

Highlights

  • 40-acre private resort compound filled with fragrant gardens

  • Premier patio suite with private pool — ideal setup for families with King bedroom, sofa bed and complimentary rollaway bed (on request) in living room), extra shower room, and serene, spacious private patio with plunge pool, loungers and umbrella, gardens, and outdoor dining

  • Massive “Kids Kasbah” (palace) — supervised, complimentary kids club (kids age 5-12) with a great indoor/outdoor multi-room facility and programming

  • Excursions — private tours of the Medina, Anima Gardens and Atlas Mountains (including tea at a Berber Village home and Arabian Camel ride), Inara Camp in Agafay Desert

  • Gorgeous lighting design throughout hotel and suite with artisanal decor

  • Kids loved visiting the four birds in massive cages in the hotel lobby

  • Exceptional service experience with high staff to guest ratio — felt like we were well-looked after our entire time here

  • Solid dining and excellent breakfast buffet spread — late afternoon Aperol Spritzes poolside at Azzerra and dinner at rooftop Zest were dining highlights

  • Spa facilities — including a mother-daughter “spa day” to get pedicures

Good to Know

  • The resort is a 15-minute drive from the airport, located in a gated, guarded compound with security checks for all in-bound vehicle — we felt safe at all times at the resort and outside the resort with a driver/guide

  • Booking a tour guide to explore the Medina is a good value (about 30 USD for half a day) and gets you front of the line access to many of the city’s top attractions; just be sure to ask about the stops first as we were taken to a few places that felt like tourist traps to get us to buy things we did not want

  • Fast Track service is available at Marrakesh Menara Airport on arrival and departure; we used this and it was helpful, though it was more of a “nice to have” than a must-have

  • Four Seasons partners with Inara Camp for Agafay desert excursions which is lovely but quite far — we arrived too late to do our planned activities; be sure to plan on longer than what the resort quotes for timing
