The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has been at the forefront of eco-friendly initiatives, from banning plastic straws in 2015 and recycling abalone shells to dispensing with its table linen to reduce industrial washing - eliminating single-used plastic and practicing ethical sourcing. Realising the pressing issue of food waste, Amber collaborated with a local charity, Food Angel, serving meals made from surplus edible produce to the ones in need. The hotel is also partnering with Nordaq FRESH, Sweden’s leading fresh water specialist, that enables guests to enjoy freshly filtered drinking water at the hotel’s premise and reduces up to 500 plastic bottles a day by replacing it with branded, reusable ones made of glass.
