Know Before You Go: Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort (Los Cabos)
Our stay at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, was replete with stunning scenes and the service here was excellent (except for invoicing errors that took a surprising amount of effort to correct). There were lots of thoughtful, memorable touches throughout our stay, from the foaming welcome margaritas to the complimentary in-room tequila setup, to the glass hearts guests receive upon departure with different colors indicating number of stays. During dinner on our last night, we were treated to an impromptu show of fireworks, mariachi, and fire dancers for a private party on the beach, which was an unexpected delight. However, we felt the dining and value overall here were subpar, and there were no air-conditioned common spaces aside from the rooms, making for sweltering meals and spa visits in summer months. It’s also worth noting that while the property allows children, there is not much here for kids to do (no kids activities, no swimmable beach). With limited diversions on the property aside from pools and dining, and watery one-person pizzas that cost $55, we left feeling underwhelmed. While we will likely return to Cabo someday — though hopefully not in summer months — we will opt to stay somewhere with a swimmable beach and air-conditioned dining spaces.

Good to Know
There are no air conditioned spaces here aside from the rooms, and summers in Cabo are sweltering
The dining here is expensive, even for Cabo prices, and the food we ate here was nowhere near the calibre we expected for a well-regarded five-star resort; part of this seemed to be menu design, part was execution (ex: $55 for a watery wood-fired pizza); suffice it to say we were disappointed
Wine is expensive here, even more so than other luxury Cabo resorts — corkage is allowed at restaurants, but at an eye-watering $125 per bottle, and $150 per bottle for champagne
Limited activities available are available at the resort aside from pools and spa
The beach here is NOT swimmable — thought very few are in Cabo
Children are welcome, but there is not much for them to do here aside from swim (no children’s activities, kids club, etc.) — during our stay, a mom and dad took their two very young children to the fitness center and allowed them to play on the exercise equipment without supervision while they both worked out for about 45 minutes; the fitness center staff watched the children attentively to prevent them from injuring themselves but at no point did they intervene with the parents
Arbol is the property’s marquis fine dining restaurant, but dinner here came across as more gimmicky and focused on the scene than substance and quality, and service was strained; we much preferred our dinner at Alebrije
Upon checkout, we were surprised to see breakfast charges on our bill when our rate included breakfast. When we raised this with the hotel, we were sent a copy of another guest’s invoice — including their personal information (which we promptly deleted and alerted the hotel of their error). It took several follow-up emails before the erroneous breakfast charges were reversed.
